The Holiday Ends

The BA Flight to Istanbul August 21st 2004

It had to happen. The end of the holiday. It came on Saturday 21st of August. I had gone over to Manchester the previous night and stayed in a hotel near the airport.

On the Saturday I flew done to Heathrow. Once there I encountered chaos. It was if the entire city of London was fleeing some great chatastrophic happening. The people blocked the way to the check -in-desk.

Fortunately BA said that I could check in at any one. I joined the line and followed it. The situation was explosive and I thought abit of humour might help to get through the ordeal. It did and our line at least was as merry as it could be given the circumstances.

Travelling First Class

I arrived at the departure gate for Istanbul to find it deserted of ground crew. The plane was there but other than myself not a soul. This was rather worrying as I'd expected it to be full of activity.

I found a help desk and I was reassurred that I was at the correct gate. Seems there was a shortage of ground staff.

First on the scene and with the knowledge got me in a leadership position. I was the person everyone asked for advice and what was happening. Again humour was good medicine and there was a happy atmospher when the flight crew came off the plane to look for their passengers.

The upshoot of my entertainment was an upgrade to first class travel. So as far as Istanbul I travelled in style.

After that Tajik Air took over and early on Sunday August 22nd I was back in Tajikistan.
